The Plaza Festival Prep Guide
In just TWO short days the 20th Annual Plaza Festival will take place and our community will
join together to enjoy live music, great food, visual art, children’s activities, and much more. Is
this your first year attending Plaza Festival?! AWESOME! We are so excited to have you join us
this year to experience the magic of our small but mighty district. However, attending a Festival
can be daunting, but with our Plaza Festival Tips you will be ready to enjoy Festival all day ( and
Festival goers start to get cranky and want to get the heck out of dodge whenever they are
hungry, tired, or thirsty. Add in a possible combination of all three and it’s a recipe for burnout
and a quick turnaround away from 16 th Street. Have no fear, we are here to combat all day
Tip #1: Sleep! Make sure to enjoy deep, sweet slumber the night before Festival. Aim for 7 to 8
hours of rest so that you are bright-eyed and bushy tailed for Festival fun.
Tip #2: Stay hydrated! We suggest bringing a reusable water bottle with at least 1 Ml capacity
and filling up before you go. If you forget your water bottle at home, no problem! Most of the
food trucks will have water bottles and other beverages available for purchase throughout the
day. Want a beverage…of the adult variety? Make sure to check out the Drink Tent throughout
the day for some good, cold beer. Want something a little stronger? Head over to Saints or the
Mule and enjoy their fully stocked bars.
Tip #3: Don’t be hangry! Eat a well-rounded nutritious meal before heading to the Festival to
remain energized and levelheaded all day. Even better idea? Enjoy one of the many food trucks
featured at Festival this year or one of Plaza’s many great restaurants.
While festivals, and the Plaza District, are known for strong fashion choices, an all day outdoor
festival is not the place to pull out your 6 inch platforms and new faux fur coat (unless you are
into that sort of thing). With the unpredictable Oklahoma weather and loads of walking you will
do around all of the Festival, you don’t want to be miserable.
Tip #4: Dress comfortably! Wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable to walk and stand in
for extended periods of time. Dress in layers that are light and easily removeable in case the
weather changes unexpectedly. On that note, protect your beautiful face by wearing some SPF.
Sun damage and sun burns suck, ain’t nobody got time for that. Also, bring an umbrella or rain
jacket just in case. Oklahoma weather, ya’ know? Want to know exactly how much walking you
will be doing? Check out the site map here (HYPERLINK TO SITE MAP or INSERT).
And….for the FINAL and MOST IMPORTANT tip…
Tip #5: Have fun! Plaza Festival only comes around once a year, so enjoy it, try to enjoy
everything Festival has to offer, and come back next year!
