Oklahoma Pop Band, Sports to Headline the 2017 Plaza District Festival

New this year, the Festival’s music schedule now includes three music stages and features a variety of theatre, dance, acoustic, neo-soul and hip-hop.

The 19th annual Plaza District Festival returns Saturday, September 30, 11a.m. to 10 p.m., and welcomes for the first time, Sports, an Oklahoma pop band of wizards, with a laid-back indie rock sound full of fun auditory surprises, who will be conjuring pop music spells for all on the Main stage.

The Festival’s Main Stage, located in the heart of the festival on the 1700 block of NW 16th, opens at 11a.m. with OCUpella, and closes with Sports at 9 p.m.

“I’m thrilled to introduce our festival-goers to this talented Tulsa trio,” said Cayla Lewis, Executive Director of the Plaza District Association. “I can’t think of a better way to close out this Oklahoma summer than at Festival listening to the summer-infused indie sound of Sports.”

The Venue Stage, a new festival music location within The Venue, 1757 NW 16th, and next door the District House, begins at 12 p.m. with Kinderhook, a celebrated country-rock-folk band, and closes with Cavern Company at 8 p.m.

The Tree & Leaf Stage, another new stage for this annual festival, is located in the back yard of the retail store of the same name at 1705B NW 16th, opens at 12 p.m. with Dre B, an Oklahoma City-based hip hop artist, and closes with Fresh at 8 p.m.
