We'll be joining Oklahoma City for their 12th annual Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 19th. Group bike rides to downtown begin in 5 different neighborhoods around the city, including McKinley Park in Classen Ten Penn, just down the road from the Plaza District!
In honor of Bike to Work Day, we wanted to showcase the growing bike culture of the Plaza District. With many employees, patrons, and visitors riding to the Plaza District on bike, we are proud to be a bicycle-friendly district that offers several amenities to our friends who bike!
We have to credit the City of Oklahoma City for much of our bike friendly infrastructure. By modernizing our streetscape design, they reduced 16th Street's speed limit to give bicyclists the ability to safely ride in the street. They also have provided us with several bike racks.
We are also lucky to have businesses that support biking. Oak and Ore was the first restaurant in Oklahoma City with an indoor bike rack, and Dusty from Tree and Leaf has led group bike rides from the Plaza District to the Myriad Gardens (It's only an 8 minute bike ride!).
With 112 bicycle rack parking spaces, street trees, and patio railing, there is no shortage of bike parking in the Plaza!
All this to say, we're big fans of biking around here! We hope you choose to bike the next time you're on your way to the Plaza!
