Executive Director salary range is $38,000 - $50,000 based on experience.
The Executive Director of the Plaza District is the primary advocate for district revitalization and the primary coordinator of the association’s activities. Overall responsibilities include engaging the community, marketing the district, directing operations and place management.
While the Executive Director provides key leadership and guidance to the organization, it is essential that the members of the board and the community participate in the work of the organization by leading committees and participating in volunteering in activities. The Executive Director will provide advice and guidance to each committee and will coordinate their efforts.
The Executive Director should possess the education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: finance, public relations, design and marketing, planning, business administration, public administration, nonprofit administration, fundraising, and/or small business development.
· The manager must be well organized, flexible and able to communicate information about the Plaza District Program to various groups and individuals. The position also requires a high level of energy and the ability to function effectively in an independent environment
· Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Bring together neighborhood stakeholders (business owners, property owners, neighbors) to build community, consensus and address common goals. Mediation on behalf of the association in conflict relevant to district goals.
- Public speaking + appearances
Represent the Plaza District to be public by speaking at events, and attending networking and community events relevant to district goals.
- Volunteer Management
Work with committees of the Board to recruit and manage volunteers for special events and projects.
- Art + Neighborhood + Placemaking Initiatives
Work with Committee on Design, the City of OKC Office of Arts & Cultural affairs, local artists and community art organizations on public art initiatives and placemaking initiatives. Encourage community building within neighborhood by working closely with neighborhood associations, schools, churches and organizations.
Worked with City and neighbors to address crime, code enforcement and traffic issues
Advocate for needed services and improvements for district safety and design. Manage city reporting, permitting and applications as necessary, including representation at City Council and Commission meetings.
Marketing + Creative
- Event Planning + Production
Work with board committees in planning and implementing Special Events, including: Plaza District Festival, Urban Pioneer Awards Luncheon, Live on the Plaza and other Events and related duties as needed.
- Social Media
Work with Program Assistant to develop social media strategies. Implement managing social media when Assistant is out of office.
- Public Relations
Work with Program Assistant to write and distribute press releases. Media appearances and interviews as necessary.
Manage Program Assistant in distributing external communications to the public, and internal communications between stakeholders. See Program Assistant job description.
- Branding + Identity
Along with Program Assistant, ensure branding and identity of district collateral is cohesive and reflects brand strategy.
- Graphic Design
Review graphics created by Program Assistant.
- Fundraising + Development
Work with Board of Directors on development strategies including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Prepare donor correspondence and donation tracking.
- Board of Directors
Prepare Board meeting documents including agendas, financial reports, director reports and additional meeting information. Correspond with board members to schedule meetings, track progress and report. Work with Board of Directors on new member recruitment. Track attendance and giving status of members. Keep Board of Directors on track with Strategic Plan and Scope of Work.
Work with Accountant to ensure accurate account of books, accounts payable and receivable, work with Treasurer and Accountant on monthly reports
Work with Board of Directors to build budgets for fiscal year, events and special projects. Track progress and report budget status monthly
- Contract Management
Manage contract requirements with the City of OKC’s Commercial District Revitalization Program including monthly reports and reimbursement requests, Scope of Work preparation and implementation and additional contract requirements.
- Grant Writing
Work with Development Committee to identify grant opportunities, write grant applications and follow up reports.
- General Office Administration
Maintain and organize files, keep corporate records, and purchase supplies. Regularly check phone and email messages and ensure that contact is returned.
- Human Resources
Oversee and manage work of Program Assistant and independent contracts for district maintenance.
- Financial Sustainability
Work with the Board to create and implement Business Improvement District/voluntary dues strategy to fund the continued services of the association.
- Parking Strategies
Work with stakeholders to implement parking strategies as part of the 2014 Parking Study, identify new strategies for current scope of district
- Small Business Resources
Provide resources, trainings, education and information to support small businesses in the district.
- Commercial Development
Assist developers in recruiting tenants that fit the vision of the district.
Work with residential developers in surrounding neighborhoods to ensure positive development.

Hours & Salary: Full Time, Salary commensurate on experience, weekend and evening hours required.
