LOVE IS _________. CALL TO ARTISTS @ The Society

The Society has taken a hiatus from shows during Live on the Plaza due to a new endeavor, a shop on Western Avenue called Weldon Jack, focusing on the craftsman of OKC. With a new year comes new shows and a redirected focus back onto the studio.

“Love is _______” is a curated show to be held at The Society in The Plaza District Friday, February 13th from 7-11pm. This event is one day before Valentines and will be a social media driven event.

What does this mean you might ask? Between now and February 2nd at midnight we will except images tagged to our instagram @thesocietyokc that communicate how “Love is __________.” This could be a positive or a negative thing - love or hate - sad or happy. The image can communicate what it’s like to be alone or lose someone you love. It can be a place, person or thing you love.

With your image please fill in the blank to the question at hand. This will be the title placed on your piece: “Love is __________.” Bold, terrifying, confused, a lie, complicated, love.

Pieces will be printed as a high quality Kodak Endura Print and matted with acid free mat then placed into a 12”x12” black gallery frame. These pieces will be available for purchase during the show. The purchase price for the artist is $45. The purchase price for the general public is $100. Matting and framing will look very similar to the framed image on this page.

ONLY 25 IMAGES WILL BE CHOSEN FOR THE SHOW.

We are looking for high quality photographs taken with any device (cell phone, film or digital SLR) that give perspective on love and shine a light on personal experiences with such a complicated emotion.

Here are just a few examples:

1. Elderly couple strolling together “Love is unconditional”
2. Monkey holding a duck “Love is unexpected”
3. Girl with lung cancer dressing for her wedding “Love is forever”
4. Mountains “Love is still”

PLEASE DIRECT ALL QUESTIONS TO THESOCIETYOKC@GMAIL.COM

(The Society will retain the right to use any image for promotion before and during the show. Any piece that is not purchased will become property of The Society)
