This November the gallery will be featuring the whimsically baroque paintings of Mary L. Parkes. The artist received her B.A. in Fine Art from Christian College in Columbia, Missouri with additional professional studies at the University of Kentucky. Mary is inspired by simple extensions of the natural world; grass, leaves and things that flutter. Her compositions are characterized by subtly ornate details and bold color juxtapositions in playfully whimsically still life settings. Her works also demonstrate strong elements of movement and rhythm. Parkes recently relocated with her husband to Hayden Island near Portland, Oregon following many years of success in Santa Fe, NM. For more information on available works by Mary L. Parkes please visit http://kasumcontemporary.com/artist/Mary%20L._Parkes/wor ks/. A reception will be held at the gallery for the exhibit on Friday, November 14th from 7:00 – 11:00 during the monthly Live on the Plaza.
