Kasum Contemporary Aims to Make Artwork More Accessible
Unveiling the Works on Paper Project

This October during Live on the Plaza, October 10th, Kasum Contemporary will unveil their initial selections for their new Works on Paper Project which aims to make artwork more accessible by not breaking the bank. As the gallery Director, Tony Morton, explains, “Art can range into the hundreds of thousands of dollars but it doesn’t have too. I wanted to find a way to offer younger and newer arts patrons a chance to start collecting with high quality original artworks that fit their budgets. By focusing in printmaking processes such as etching and lithography, hand produced processes which have changed little in 400 years, I can offer clients an original, archival, well-crafted artwork that is capable of holding and gaining value. The Works on Paper Program will feature original small batch printmaking editions and select illustrations in the $80.00 - $600.00 range. The program is also about creating exposure opportunities for illustrators and printmakers. The ini tial selection of works will include two emerging artists as well. Local printmaker Stacey D. Miller, Oklahoma Artist of the Year 2010, is producing two small 20 piece lithography editions for local artists Kyle Callard and Dustin Moore who will have works on display for the October Showcase. The gallery will also be giving away one artist proof from each edition produced by a local artist; give always will be organized through social media and in-house drawings. Other artists which will be featured Kevin Stark, artist and founder of the Action Figure Museum, Mark Sission, Head of Drawing and Printmaking at OSU and Stacey Miller. Initially the gallery expects to rotate new printmaking selections on a monthly basis eventually transitioning to a weekly rotation.
