Oklahoma City's Premier Mural Exhibition
The Oklahoma Mural Syndicate is pleased to announce the lineup of artists and programming for its third annual Plaza Walls Mural Expo, presented by Spaces Real Estate and powered by Google. From its humble beginning as a pilot project of rotating outdoor murals, Plaza Walls has evolved to become Oklahoma’s best outdoor mural gallery, attracting world-class local and international talent.
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, twenty-four artists will make their mark upon the Plaza District’s historic walls as local DJs The Moneymakin’ Jam Boys and Nymasis bring the beats while emcees Sativa Prophets and StuddaBudda entertain the crowd. This year’s artist lineup includes: Ackzilla, Amuse126, Anamarietta, Cassie Stover, Danielle O’Malley, Denise Duong, Dusty Gilpin, Dylan Bradway, Holey Kids, Jake Beeson, Jakey Cakes, Jason Pawley, JUURI, Kris Kanaly, Merlot, Monster Steve, Rhiana Deck, Sullystring, Sean Vali, Tony Thunder, Wane COD, and Yeehaw Pizza.
In addition to the new pieces being created in the alleys, the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate will debut four large-scale murals. Ohio-based artist Monster Steve takes over the Saints Pub Wall, sponsored by STAPLEGUN; Chicago-based artists Merlot and Amuse126 will cover the Everything Goes Dance Studio Wall, sponsored by Tinker Federal Credit Union; Puerto Rican artist Anamarietta will paint the Indiana Avenue Wall, sponsored by TokenEx; and Oklahoma City-native Denise Duong will bring her whimsical scenes to the newest alley wall alongside Lyric Theatre, sponsored by Paycom.
Each year, thousands of guests walk through the alley as artists create murals. In addition to this unique opportunity to see large-scale murals painted live, the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate is partnering with the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center to offer guests the opportunity to pick up a can of spray paint and contribute to a public mural on a temporary wall.
The Plaza Walls Expo would not be possible without its in-kind sponsors Mason Realty Investors, Waco of Oklahoma, HIS Paint, The Okay See, Walker Companies and Empire Slice House. For more information about the expo, including sponsorship opportunities, tours and artist inquiries, please contact email@example.com.
In celebration of the revitalized District, the Plaza District Association holds the Plaza District Festival each fall. The festival highlights a wide array of Oklahoma’s own performing artists, visual artists, live musicians and children's activities.
In the spirit of Lyric’s hit production, The Who’s Tommy, When We’re Gone is a rock musical that follows Todd, an angst-ridden teen, in plague-ridden, 14th-century London and his desire to make great art in a time of great need. This wildly creative new musical strikes a brilliant balance of modern day characters, a pop-punk score and the life-changing events of 1349. Anyone who has ever wondered what life is all about will be enlightened, entertained and amazed. This musical contains adult language and adolescent themes.
