The Stobaugh family’s heritage of winemaking prompted them to open their first Oklahoma Winery, Whispering Meadows Vineyards & Winery located in Historic Downtown McAlester. It’s success and the Stobaugh’s passion for wine prompted them to bring the experience to Oklahoma City.
Urban Wineworks is opening its doors this Saturday, with a list of eight phenomenal wines that are sure to please almost any palette. One of the main goals of this new winery is to teach people to “drink outside the box,” with several unusual varietals and blends. You won’t find your standard merlot here. In addition to the great wine within each bottle, each label showcases fun, funky, and modern pairings to suit the most formal of dinner parties or just a Tuesday night on the couch. At the center of each of these labels sits the Urban Wineworks Gear Logo, which when tattooed provides the ticket to many “Tattoo Only” Perks!
Also with the opening of the winery comes a fresh new menu provided by Urban Wireworks’ own, Chef Melissa Lain. Chef Lain’s dishes are focused around the eclectic list of wines and are sure to provide the perfect pairings. Originally from New Orleans, she brings a multitude of culinary knowledge and a wonderful flare for creative dishes.
Urban Wineworks is very dedicated to promoting the revitalization of the Historic Plaza District as well as the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Organization, by donating a portion of their proceeds to these organizations and others throughout the Metro area.
